Without an account
Every project works without signing in. The designs you save, and the one you last worked on, stay in your browser's own storage on your device; they never reach us. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.
With an account
If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we keep:
- your name, as Google or Microsoft pass it to us when you sign in, and which of the two you used
- your email address, if you sign in with Google. A Microsoft sign-in doesn't share it with us
- when your account began
- whether you've been let into a project that's open to invited testers
- the designs you save: their settings, the names you give them, a small picture of each, and when you saved them.
Sign-in runs on Microsoft Entra External ID, Microsoft's sign-in service. We never see or keep your Google or Microsoft password. Your account and your designs are kept in Microsoft Azure, in the United States.
We use this only to keep your designs and show them back to you, on any browser you sign in on, and to let you into a project you've been invited to. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or send you marketing email. With a paid plan, the only email you get is about that plan: receipts and renewal reminders from Stripe, and notice from us of a price change or a change to the terms that matters.
The site's owner can see each account's name, its email if there is one, and when it began, and uses them only to decide who can use a project that's open to invited testers. If you're invited by email, that email stays on the list until you're taken off it.
Payments
A paid plan is bought through Link, part of Stripe, which sells it on our behalf as the seller of record, takes the payment and keeps your card details; we never see them. Stripe's own privacy policy covers what it and Link keep. From Stripe we keep, with your account:
- which plan you have, monthly, yearly or Founding Member, and whether it is active
- when it renews or ends
- Stripe's reference for you as a customer, and for your subscription or your one payment, so the plan stays matched to your account.
Stripe keeps its record of the payments themselves for as long as the law requires, even after your account is deleted.
Deleting your account
Open the account window from the circle at the top right of any page and choose Delete my account. Your designs and your account's details are deleted from our storage at once. Deleting your account also takes it off the list of invited testers, and cancels a membership at once. To have the record of your sign-in removed from Microsoft Entra as well, email hello@oddlyhelpful.com.
Feedback
The Feedback button at the top of every page sends us a note. Anyone can send one, signed in or not. A note carries:
- what you write, and what kind of note it is
- the page you sent it from, the size of your browser window, and the kind of browser and device, such as "Safari on iOS", and no more detail than that
- your account, if you're signed in, so your name shows beside it
- only if you choose: your design's settings, a picture, and an email address for a reply.
Before a picture leaves your device, the page draws it again as a new image, which drops any location or camera details stored in the file.
Notes are kept in Microsoft Azure, in the United States, for 12 months and then deleted, or for longer while one is marked as planned work. Only the site's owner reads them. When a note arrives, the site's owner gets an email, sent through our email host, Hostinger, saying what was written and on which page, never your name, account or email address. If you leave an email address, we use it only to answer that note.
Deleting your account deletes the notes you sent while signed in to it. To have any other note removed, email hello@oddlyhelpful.com.
What every visit sends
Like any website, the servers behind this one record the requests they serve, Hostinger's for the pages and Microsoft Azure's for accounts and feedback: the address a request came from, the browser, the page and the time. These records are for keeping the site running and secure. So that no one can flood the feedback form or the site's counts, the site also counts how many requests come from each address in an hour. It keeps the address only as a scrambled code that changes every day, and deletes those counts after two days. The typefaces come from this site too, so no page asks another for them.
The site has no advertising and no tracking cookies. Signing in keeps a sign-in token in your browser's storage so you stay signed in; signing out removes it.
What the site counts
The site counts its own use, itself, with no outside analytics service: which pages are viewed, roughly how long each is actually read, and how often the tools are used — settings changed, a design saved or deleted, a file downloaded, a sign-in or sign-out — and how often membership is offered, a checkout begun and a plan bought, and for which plan. A count carries no name, no email, no account and no address; it never says who, only that. So that one sitting reads as one visit and not several, your browser keeps one random marker, which is not a cookie, says nothing about you, and is gone when the tab closes. Nothing about these counts follows you, here or anywhere else. The counts are kept for 13 months.
Links to other sites
Some pages link to products on other sites, such as Amazon and Bambu Lab. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
The Amazon links are affiliate links. If you buy after following one, Amazon pays us a small commission, at no cost to you, and Amazon may set its own cookies to know you came from here. Nothing on this site tracks you to do it.
Children
The site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep an account for one.
